Brian Selznick has perfected, almost single-handedly, the telling of epic stories in word and pictures.  As in ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’ and ‘The Marvels’, in ‘Wonderstruck’ he tells two stories, this time 50 years apart – following a boy’s search for his father and a girl’s fascination for a silent movie actress – through glorious illustrations and compelling narrative.  The two stories initially seem unrelated but they begin to merge in ways that are both surprising and riveting.

An essential addition to a top quality library for children aged 8 and above. Quite sublime.
