A Bear is a Bear (except when he’s not)

£6.99

A Bear is a Bear (except when he’s not) is a confusion. Who is Bear if he’s not Bear?  Could he be bird and fly? Or maybe Moose and grow antlers and eat grass? Fox dances and prances, yet again this goes against anything Bear can do! What is going on? Possibly it’s the time of year for it’s December and….

With warm rhyme, swirling uncertainty and keen effort, Bear advances toward a cave and then…. How will he be when Spring arrives? Will Bear remember who he is?

Karl Newson’s I Am a Tiger is a Bookwagon favourite. We are delighted to welcome and recommend this new title. Who is Bear if he’s not Bear? Let’s join the rhyming confusion and discover!

Description

A Bear is a Bear (except when he’s not)

Karl Newson and Anuska Allepuz

(Nosy Crow)

‘A Bear is a Bear (except when he’s not), so what is he? What would he be, if a bear forgot? Could he be a moose? Or a fox, of course! What might that entail? Could Bear dance and prance, or grow antlers and taste dry grass? What about fly like a bird? Perhaps Bear might be a squirrel. It seems as though that’s a possibility… However, being a squirrel involves climbing ‘so high‘…. Yet, this is a bear who could give ‘it a try‘.
Why is Bear forgetting? Could it be the time of year? Might Bear need a cave and a deep and meaningful sleep? Karl Newson and Anuska Allepuz have collaborated to create a wonderful whirl of ursine confusion. Poor Bear? Who is he? Might he need a dose of Little Bear’s Spring to remind him of how things need to be? Or even a dip into another Bookwagon Newson favourite, I Am a Tiger?
We love the rhyming suggestions, the desperate efforts to remember and the empathetic, gentle pictures. ‘A Bear is a Bear (except when he’s not) is a glorious picture book.
