Adventures With Grandad

£19.99

The boy and his Grandad find adventures from the most unexpected sources. Could it be that their delayed exit to experience the Snow might result in them arriving alongside some huge surprises? Won’t this mean ‘fun with everyone‘?

Then again, what about waiting and waiting and waiting for the Rain to stop, with hopes of visiting the Floating City? Is it possible that Grandad will finish his letter writing? Then that there might be a voyage, where the boy acts as Captain?

However, he’s lookout when the pair travel to escape the Sun. They’re after the ‘perfect picnic spot‘ though their choice seems to be populated by a number of adventurers gathering provisions!

However the Storm blusters and blows, huffs and howls and whistles and whooshes while the pair recall their expeditions and seek their kite. Where might they fly it? Then again, where might the kite lead them?

Alongside pen perfect, lyrical pictures, Sam Usher offers stories of wonder, love and possibilities. Bookwagon loves the original, separate picture books. However, here, Snow, Rain, Sun and Storm bound together become Adventures With Grandad, a feast of imagination.

Adventures With Grandad

Four Classic Stories

Sam Usher

(Templar Books)

In his foreword to Adventures with Grandad, Sam Usher explains the inspiration for the series contained here. In fact, it was a train journey, where he wondered at the lives behind the windows he passed. Then again, there was the matter of his four and a half years living in the home of an older gentleman, a companion, cook and support. Here we see Grandad’s formation, ahead of the journeys and discoveries he takes with the boy.
For example, they exalt at Snow with the boy determined to get out into the park before anyone else. However what if they’re too late? Will it be overly disappointing, or might they find something huge and surprising upon which to play? Thereafter, when there’s Rain it might be ‘best to stay indoors‘ but what ‘if you LIKE going out in the rain‘? Could this be a call for another inspirational discovery? There’s Sun where the pair seek somewhere ‘with a cool breeze‘ as they navigate their way through unexpected worlds. Meanwhile, what if a Storm leads to ‘swooping and flying‘ beyond anyone’s wildest dreams?
Bookwagon adores Sam Usher. Not only does he create books that are so inviting and beautiful, but there are always possibilities, travels into the impossible possible. We recommend Adventures With Grandad highly as a book to gift, to share, to treasure, to love dearly.
