Boss of the Underworld: Shirley Vs Seven Deadly Dangers

£8.99

While every stage that Shirley’s experienced since falling after her £1.00 has brought its surprises and unexpected challenges, it seems as though the under-under-underworld is entirely unpredictable. What’s more, this is a hostile environment.

While Shirley’s gifted a mildly protective bonnet to help her, and best friend George, on their way, it’s no insurance against lava pangolins or evil hedge mazes! Then again, what of the Hall of Mirrors, which reflects inner fears, before the Pile of Predators? It seems as though we’re aware ahead of Shirley and George that they’ve not passed this quest…. in fact, it’s devious and ready to pounce!

Despite so many twists and turns and such inhospitality, Shirley and George’s friendship is tight. They’ve missed each other. They want success through this quest so that George might be reunited with his four sisters and Shirley home safely. Could this be too much to ask?

Bookwagon adores this series. It is unlike any other we’ve read, rich in humour, anarchy, respect for readers and original narrative. The graphics are outstanding, while the characters are true and brave and utterly daft. Bookwagon is overjoyed to welcome this third and final addition to the Boss of the Underworld trilogy. Boss of the Underworld: Shirley Vs Seven Deadly Dangers is a triumph.

Boss of the Underworld: Shirley Vs Seven Deadly Dangers

Tor Freeman

(Hachette)

It’s down, down, down as the friends fall into the under-under-underworld. It seems that Shirley’s become accustomed to this type of falling since her adventure began with Boss of the Underworld: Shirley Vs the Green Menace. However now her priority is to get home, while George is searching for his four sisters. Yet to proceed, they must undergo x-rays and pass through customs. It’s here the friends learn that there’s a new quest, that it’s Shirley Vs Seven Deadly Dangers.
The under-under-underworld is not a friendly place. In fact at one point the friends encounter a pollster wishing to gauge their opinion of this place. They don’t spare this place in their feedback. After all, by that time, they’ve faced a confusing examination and a tricky lava pangolin. What’s more, Shirley’s been convinced that the bonnet she wears IS a fortunate accessory to their progress. Don’t she and George need any help they can get to work through this place? It’s full of horrors, lies and deception. It’s also very, very, very funny.
Bookwagon values Tor Freeman‘s ingenuity, respect for her readers, and commitment to the narrative. We love the characters she’s created in this trilogy. Frequently, this Bookwagon-eer found herself gasping at Shirley’s courage and lack of awareness! We are fully involved in Shirley’s quest for home, and then that George’s sisters might realise what a hero he is. It seems Shirley knows! Bookwagon is delighted, overjoyed, jumping for joy to welcome aboard Boss of the Underworld: Shirley Vs Seven Deadly Dangers.
