Grimwood 6: The Fast and the Furriest

(Simon & Schuster)

Treebonk fever has overwhelmed Grimwood – the Treebonk World Cup is about to be held in the neighbouring village of Twinklenuts.  They are the Grimwood’s team arch rivals and the team are determined to do well.  However, their optimism somewhat overlooks the fact that the Grimwood team is actually not very good.  This won’t let Nancy the fox and the rest of the team from trying their best.

Circumstances change however when the Twinklenuts stadium is mysteriously destroyed and the finals are relocated in…Grimwood!  The gang now have to host the World Cup and deal with accommodating everyone, putting on a successful opening ceremony and ensuring the tournament goes without a hitch.  Devotees of this brilliantly funny series will be aware that the chances of ‘without a hitch’ in Grimwood are remote.  Furthermore, as always, everyone is worried about what Pamela the (homicidal) eagle might do.  Themes around teamwork, competitiveness and corruption feature, but most of all this series is fun, chaotic as well as being packed with Nadia Shireen’s brilliant illustrations.
