Have You Seen Elephant?

David Barrow

(Gecko Press)

Have You Seen Elephant is a gorgeous title that is sure to have younger readers laughing desperately. After all, we can see Elephant’s hiding right under our reading noses! What’s more, we suggest that readers are likely to point out Elephant’s hiding places! After all his hiding places might be a little tricky for the boy who seeks him, but we’ve the inside spread!
Somehow, David Barrow‘s painterly textures mean the hunt is artful. Thereafter our help is needed! After all, Elephant warns, ‘I’m very good!’ It seems as though Elephant has played this game before and is truly practised, while the little boy is not!
David Barrow’s debut title is thoughtful, heartwarming and reminiscent of Meg McLaren’s The Station Mouse. Thereafter, it all seems rather too much for our seeker to bear. However,  it isn’t long before there’s further trouble as Tortoise arrives to play tag… It seems that appealing picture books for our youngest readers can be more difficult to find, rather like Elephant. It seems that they often do not encourage a reading joy and can be static. However, Bookwagon asserts that in Have You Seen Elephant? we have a respectful, immersive and encouraging reading experience likely to be loved and read frequently.
