Kidnap on the California Comet

Harrison (Hal) is quick to employ his sketchbook to realise and recall the astounding sights and people around him. He’s guest aboard the California Comet with his uncle Nathaniel, a travel journalist and railway enthusiast. Their last (and first) journey together became a mystery,  The Highland Falcon Thief. Harrison helped to solve that one. Surely there won’t be another case to solve on this one…

Kidnap on the California Comet involves the daughter of August Reza, billionaire entrepreneur and train enthusiast, who has invited Uncle Nat and Harrison aboard to reveal a secret brand new invention. Yet at the moment of the grand reveal, Marianne is kidnapped! Who has the means and motive to do this? Is there anything that Hal has seen or learned that could help unpick the clues to recovering Marianne? There is an odd assembly of characters aboard the California Comet, from a shady passenger with briefcases, a rival journalist, a bullying father and a woman with a bearded dragon! Then there’s the would-be magician and her impersonator brother.

All in all, it’s not the journey that Hal and Uncle Nat had planned! Can they solve the case of Kidnap on the California Comet? We are knee deep in an exciting rail journey with a case to solve! What could be better?

Harrison Beck can barely contain his excitement to be on the tracks with his railway writing, globetrotting uncle, Nathaniel Bradshaw. Little do they know that it won’t be long until they’re right in the middle of Kidnap on the California Comet!
Uncle Nat is guest aboard the California Comet courtesy of billionaire entrepreneur August Reza. While Harrison hopes to spend his time drawing the sights along the journey between Chicago and San Francisco, curious encounters seem to distract that focus. It seems that his fellow passengers are an interesting group, from would-be magicians to a hectored son. Furthermore, the daughter of August Reza is aboard. Harrison is taken aback by her behaviour and thereafter, how and why she disappears. What is going on aboard the train? Who has a motive to kidnap the billionaire’s daughter?
Bookwagon awaited Kidnap on the California Comet keenly.  It lives up to our hopes, and the strengths of the opening title of this series, The Highland Falcon Thief. We suggest that you hop aboard to enjoy a rip-roaring, riveting train adventure with Hal!
