The wind is ‘kicking up the leaves, leaping and flying and leaning in the wind.’ There’s a Storm brewing. The boy urges his grandfather that they should kite fly. However,  first they have to find the kite….. It seems there is no end of contents within Grandad’s upstairs cupboard. In fact, there seem to be so many things that the pair are drawn into reminiscing past experiences such as the picnic they’d shared in Sun. Then agin, Grandad’s reminded of the letter he posted when we ventured into a day of Rain. Where did this go? Furthermore, was there a reply? Or might it be that Grandad needs to respond? Yet all the time, the wind nags… this is a day for kite-flying, for getting outside and experience the thrusts and gusts!

It seems that Sam Usher has created a day dense with lines and movement that we realise the ferocity of the stormy day, alongside its potential. However, isn’t every day with this pair a day for adventure and discovery? Therefore, we’re waiting and hoping and watching as they find their kite and then step outside to feel the Storm. Bookwagon recommends this wonderful picture book highly to our readers, like others within this wonderful series.
