Emily Lime – Librarian Detective: The Book Case

‘Emily Lime- Librarian Detective: The Book Case‘ offers snapshot memories of classic Ealing Comedies like ‘The Lavender Hill Mob’ and ‘The Ladykillers’. There are a few elderly characters amongst the teaching staff of St Rita’s, but the resemblance is really in the bizarre acceptance of St Rita’s chaos!

Daphne Blakeway is thrown in at the deep end, when she joins St Rita’s. She’s clutching an embarrassing book in a fake cover. She has no notion of the school’s character or community, but encouraged to feel lucky to be selected as a St Rita’s girl.

Daphne’s an avid reader and assigned to the library, overseen by assistant librarian Emily Lime, aided by stalwart helpmate, George. Daphne’s horror at the absence of books and vandalism of the library, is the crux of the story.

Dave Shelton is an original, bold story maker. We love his graphic novels  Good Dog, Bad Dog: The Golden Bone and  Good Dog, Bad Dog: Double Identity. We’ve tagged ‘Emily Lime- Librarian Detective: The Book Case‘ as a graphic novel because of the glorious illustrations that enhance the story.

The Book Case‘ had me gasping with laughter on occasions. It is unique in its conception, delivery, pace and creation. We love it!

Emily Lime- Librarian Detective: The Book Case’ is a confusing, wild and clever adventure story that frequently had me in gales of laughter. We join Daphne Blakeway on her introduction to St Rita’s School. The porter waves her off with, ‘And the best of luck at that school of yours.’ She needs it! Take the West Wing stair case and join Daphne on this rollicking read!
