The Graveyard Book

‘The Graveyard Book’ deserves its classic status. It is a truly original and gripping story that lingers long after the reading experience has ended.

Bod escapes from the evil Jack as a newborn baby, to be raised in the Graveyard by a host of eccentric, almost Dickensian characters. Bod can travel between life and death. He is tutored by spirits and given special skills. He experiences all that is good and bad (including food! )in the worlds of the living and the dead.

Unlike Harry Potter, Bod’s life does not appear to be fated. His experiences are of his own making.

Despite its ghoulish overtones and setting, this is an unsettling, fascinating, ‘life’ enhancing book, that dares to provoke the reader and convention. ‘The Graveyard Book‘ includes the  ingredients that readers demand from a great read- good versus evil, friend versus foe, high adventure, core shaking fears, legend, superstition, revenge, lies and truths.
