The Sound of Whales

Fraser lives with his family on a wild Scottish island.  He has ambitions to be a marine biologist and is working unpaid for Ben, a ‘whale scientist’.  New to the island is Hayley, a Texan who is fed up she’s even there.  Fraser’s brother Dunny spends at lot of time just staring out to sea. He hasn’t said a word in years.

When the body of whale is found washed up on a beach, its certainly an event, but nobody has any idea of the consequences it will bring.  Fraser and Hayley see a mystery-adventure to be solved, but Dunny is inconsolable.  As the mystery deepens and suspects appear everywhere, the history of the island comes into clear focus.

This is an exciting adventure with a heart.  It fuses adeptly ancient myth and stories ripped straight from today’s headlines.  Thoroughly recommended for lovers of mystery, nature and a rattling good yarn.

The Sound of Whales

Kerr Thomson

(Chicken House)

On a wild Scottish island, a tragedy washes up on the storm-beaten shore: the body of a whale. Fraser, desperate for adventure, and Hayley, visiting from Texas, become tangled in the mystery. Why is Fraser’s younger brother Dunny so distraught by the discovery. He hasn’t spoken in years, and lately he’s been acting more strangely than ever.
Together, the three meet a man living in the abandoned caves nearby. They start to wonder if he might lie at the center of something darker than they had previously thought. None of them however can have any idea of where this mystery will take them and how it will change their lives forever,
