Who Let The Gods Out
Elliot, our hero of Who Let The Gods Out, is not having a good time. His mum is ill, he is flunking at school and now his home is under threat. His problems get ten times worse when a shooting star crashes to earth, because this brings further chaos into his life in the form of Virgo – a young Zodiac goddess on a mission. Accidentally, Elliot and Virgo release from his confinement under Stonehenge, Thanatos, the wicked death daemon. Elliot and Virgo have to turn to the ancient Olympian gods for help. The gods have spent centuries of comfortable anonymity on earth. Now, when called to action, can Zeus, Athena, Hermes and the rest of the crew rise to the task of saving the world – and in so doing solving Elliot’s problems too?
This laugh-out-loud kick off to Maz Evans’ brilliant series is a hugely enjoyable romp. The author never shies away from Elliot’s real life problems and she blends fantasy and reality to brilliant effect.
