Brian Selznick has perfected, almost single-handedly, the telling of epic stories in word and pictures.  As in ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’ and ‘The Marvels’, in ‘Wonderstruck’ he tells two stories, this time 50 years apart.  They follow a boy’s search for his father and a girl’s fascination for a silent movie actress – through glorious illustrations and compelling narrative.  The two stories initially seem unrelated but they begin to merge in ways that are both surprising and riveting.

An essential addition to a top quality library for children aged 8 and above. Quite sublime.
