School author and illustrator visits

So you’re interested in a visit from an author or illustrator to your school? Here’s what you need to know!

Although Bookwagon Limited is a children’s bookstore, not an agency, on occasion, we arrange school visits from authors and illustrators. This is in addition to our role as bookstore for visits your school has arranged independently or with an agency.

Sometimes a visit is supported by a publisher. Otherwise, all writers and illustrators expect payment for their visit. Costs may include fees, alongside travel, sometimes accommodation, and VAT. This is for your guests to coordinate with you once Bookwagon Limited has made your connection.

In return for arranging your visit, Bookwagon requires your school to:-

Engage us as your guest’s sole bookseller
Commit to promoting the sale of your guest’s books, including through sharing a collective knowledge and enthusiasm for their books through class book talk and assembly
Engage with Bookwagon Limited regarding what we require to sell on site during your guest’s visit, or
Publicise opportunities offered through Bookwagon Limited’s one line book sale.

We can arrange for your school’s community to buy your guest’s books directly through www.bookwagon.co.uk at discounted prices, with delivery to your school.

We do not charge for our part in arranging and supporting your author or illustrator visit*. However, we expect the school to play its part in building excitement and awareness of your event.

* We reserve the right to charge a fee of £100 should we feel that our energy and efforts are unsupported.
