The Fairy Tale Fan Club

£8.99

C.C. Cecily’s prowess means that he’s worked her way up to become Senior Secretary of The Fairy Tale Fan Club. Thereafter he’s communicated questions and answers between ‘the curious‘ and Fairy Folk. What’s more, on occasion, where necessary, he’s added her ‘own comments and clarifications‘.

At last, we’ve The Fairy Tale Fan Club, which shares a portion of this correspondence. Thereafter who else may have ‘gone from being a boy to a puppet’? It’s Question Four in a letter from Kenji. Question 2 wonders how Pinocchio ‘could walk around on [his] own‘. After all, he’s a puppet!

Meanwhile, Humpty Dumpty responds carefully to Tyler as to his true state, explaining anthropomorphism. Then again, might there be more to Humpty’s true self than this? What is he, really?

There’s also additional correspondence to Mr Cecily himself included here, in the form of a letter from a frog. Aren’t frogs disrespected through fairy tales? Do they ‘not feed like [us] and then ‘bleed‘ like us when they are pricked? What is to be done?

Alongside an enthralling collection of correspondence between our world and Fairy Folk, beautifully collated by C.C. Cecily, we’re treated to glorious illustrations from David Roberts. Altogether it means that The Fairy Tale Fan Club is a most wonderful book, a magnificent choice to read aloud, keep and dip into, recall and return to. We recommend this book highly to all our readers.

Description

The Fairy Tale Fan Club

Legendary Letters Collected by C. C. Cecily

Richard Ayoade, illustrated by David Roberts

(Walker Books)

C. C. Cecily is Senior Secretary of The Fairy Tale Fan Club. Over recent years she’s collected letters and queries to characters in our traditional stories. In fact, C. C. Cecily has an address, is sought out by fairyland folk for her work. Thereafter, she’s emerged as senior correspondent. What’s more, in this title, Richard Ayoade recreates some of this correspondence.
Thereafter, we wonder at how a wolf and grandmother might be confused by Little Red Riding Hood. Then again, how would Cinderella respond to a request for advice about ‘mean and massively bossy’ sisters? Furthermore, how would the Wolf reply to a fan letter? One that explains the whole sorry situation with Little Red Riding Hood, and gives his explanation. (It seems he was only after ONE cupcake!)
Alongside really inventive correspondence, we’ve intricate, utterly absorbing illustrations from David Roberts. These detailed cross-hatched pictures and pin-perfect borders and accessories increase the exquisiteness of this title.
Like the writer’s The Book that No One Wanted to Read, The Fairy Tale Fan Club is an original look at a familiar consideration. Don’t we each wonder at the logic and path of such familiar stories and characters. So what happened to Hansel and Gretel’s house made of sweets, for example? Then, what’s the prince’s story in The Princess and the Pea? What did he want?
Bookwagon recommends this title highly to readers of all ages. It’s diverting, funny, clever and beautiful.
