After The Fall
How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again
Dan Santat
(Andersen Press)
Accidents happen. Humpty is best known for The Great Fall but really it seems that this was just an accident. Thereafter, he’s realised that some parts ‘can’t be put back together again‘. It means that he’s scared. What’s more, passing by that wall every day builds a feeling that he should climb the ladder. However, memories of his accident curb this impulse.
However, might a flying paper aeroplane ignite Humpty’s imagination? In fact, could he be encouraged to try again? It seems he’s determined to push any thought of the accident away. In fact, his entire focus is the potential of a plan… Then again, might he have some other need to face this challenge, to take himself step by step to the top of the wall?
What will happen? Will Humpty climb the wall again?
Bookwagon recommends After the Fall to readers of all ages. Dan Santat‘s brave photo-realistic pictures include varying perspectives. We love these in his Are We There Yet? It seems that we take Humpty to our hearts. We hope there will be a happy ever After The Fall for our hero.
